We also collect your data when you contact us by email directly or via the form displayed on the website. Such information allows us to reply to you efficiently.

The firm further implements data processing for client matters management and to perform litigation and counselling legal services for such clients. 

DBC collects such data as a data controller within the meaning of General Data Protection Regulation (EU) n°2016/679 of 27 April 2016, in force since 25 May 2018 (GDPR).

Such different data processing have the following legal bases:

The firm’s legitimate interests when the firm pursues the following purposes:

  • Website security;
  • Recruitment;
  • Promotion within the limits allowed by the Paris Bar;
  • Customer and prospect relationship management ;
  • Organization, subscription and invitation to firm’s events.

Performance of precontractual measures or of the ongoing convention between the client and the firm when we implement a processing purporting to:

  • The performance, management and follow-up of client matters (litigation or counselling);
  • Recovery of receivables.

The observance of regulatory and legal obligations when the firm implements a data processing purporting to:

  • Prevent money-laundering or terrorism financing and promote the fight against corruption;
  • Invoicing;
  • Accounting.

Data tagged with a star (*) in the contact form of the website are compulsory. Should they not be provided, the firm would not be able to consider your request.

The form retains data only for the period necessary to the operations for which data has been collected and in observance of the current regulations, in particular the applicable statute of limitation. In this respect, client data is retained for the term of the contractual relationships plus 3 years for prospection, without prejudice to retention obligations or statutes of limitations timelines. In connection with anti-money laundering and terrorism financing, data is kept 5 years after the end of the relations with the firm. For accounting purposes, data is stored 10 years as from the closing date of the fiscal year. Prospects data is retained for 3 years if no attendance nor subscription to any events of the firm has occurred. Job applicants data (when the candidate is not selected for the position) is only stored for 2 years after the last contact. Connection data is retained 6 months in our logs as from collection.

Processed data is shared with (i) members of the firm only, as well as, with respect to our clients, (ii) the other stakeholders involved in the performance of a client matter – mainly other law firms (local correspondents or adverse counsels), consultants, bailiffs, administrators and receivers, other law professionals and our providers for client matters management and for the handling of the website (hosting providers (i) of our firm management software , (ii) of our website and (iii) of our email boxes, accounting auditors), phone providers, external desk assistants, and where relevant the independent fund for dispute settlements (CARPA).

Pursuant to the conditions set out in the GDPR, individuals (job applicants, clients and prospects, contact persons at corporate clients) have the right to access, correct, limit and erase their data, as well as the right to data portability, in specific circumstances.

Data subjects also have the right to object (i) to a data processing which will be based on the firm’s legitimate interests and (ii) to prospection. They further have the right to define general and particular directives explaining how they intend that the above rights be exercised after their death.
